Case-5: Good improvement in Osteoarthritis with homeopathic treatment
Fifty years old female Mrs. U.G (Patient Identification Number- 8245) from Mumbai visited Life Force center along with her son for the treatment of Osteoarthritis of both knee joints on 11 February 2006.
Mrs. U.G was a female of strong character who had been in teaching profession since more than twenty years. She described herself as always independent and able to manage things her way. She had been principal of a reputed college since five years.
Her complained of pain in knee joints started two years ago. She used to get severe stiffness of knee joints especially in early morning. The pain and stiffness was so severe that it became difficult for her to continue her morning classes.
She went for knee replacement surgery on left knee one year before consulting Dr Shah. She was better for few months but again the pain reappeared. Due to pressure on right knee it became painful and swollen. She was advised to go for surgery of right knee then she decided to consult Dr Shah for homeopathic treatment.
Dr Shah studied the case details and assured her that her complaints will reduce substantially and homeopathic medicines can better control the disease process than conventional medicines.
Dr Shah prescribed her constitutional medicine along with our research-based medicines for two months. She was advised to take complete rest so as to avoid any further injury.
At two months follow up (April 2006) Mrs. U.G reported with 20% improvement in pain. She forgot to mention about the swelling but on examination it was evident that swelling had reduced by 30%. Her complaint of morning stiffness was better now.
At 4 months follow up (June 2006) Mrs. U.G reported with 50% improvement in pain and stiffness. Her complaint of continuous pain had reduced and she got pain only on continuous walking or long standing. Morning stiffness had reduced by 50%.
At 6 months follow up (August 2006) Mrs. U.G reported with 60% improvement overall in pain and stiffness. She was able to move around with less difficulty. She consulted her conventional doctor who was surprised to see the improvement. He advised her to continue treatment with Dr Shah.
At 8 months follow up (October 2006) Mrs. U.G reported with 70% improvement in pain although her complaints of morning stiffness had increased due to winters. Dr Shah made a few alterations in medicine doses and advised to continue the medicines.
At 12 months follow up (February 2007) Mrs. U.G reported with 80% improvement in pain and stiffness. She used to get pain only while prolonged standing or continuous walking. Dr Shah advised her some lifestyle changes and medication to be continued for few weeks.
