Case-1: Illustrative case of Dermatomyositis
A 10-year-old female patient came to Life Force for homeopathic treatment on 21st July 2015. The patient gave history of sudden development of rashes 7 months back. The rashes were macular in origin and blackish-brown in color. The rash developed bilaterally on her extensor surface of hands, legs, forehead and temples.
The patient had difficulty during walking, getting up, sitting down, turning to one side and swallowing. These symptoms indicated the degree of involvement of different muscles of the body. She experienced lot of muscle weakness. She also gave the history of frequent fall while walking.
Patient had clutching type of pain in knee joints, elbow joints, shoulder joints, thighs and back. Patient developed swelling in face occasionally with pain in the eyes which increased in the morning. Patient’s investigation reports revealed elevated levels of lactose dehydrogenase (1778 IU/L), aldolase (69.23 IU/L). The anti-nuclear antibodies were positive. Her CPK levels were found to be 9900 IU/L. MRI test revealed myositis in gluteal, adductor compartment, obturator & vasti muscles of the thigh bilaterally. Psoas & erector spinae muscles were found to be involved bilaterally. Under allopathic treatment patient was prescribed tablet Wysalon (Prednisolone) 10 mg two times a day and tablet hydroxychloroquine 300mg once a day for 20 days.
