A case of chronic pharyngitis got cured with 8 months of homeopathic treatment.
Mr. R.T 35 years old male (Patient Identification Number- 19491) visited our center on 20th July 2012 for the treatment of chronic pharyngitis.
He had this complaint since 10 years the frequency being once in 3-4 months. The complaints used to last for 3-4 days but since a year the frequency and intensity of the complaints were increased by 50%.
Before coming to us he was on homeopathic medicines since 6 months without much relief.
He had complaints of throat pain with running nose and cough with yellowish expectoration. His case details were noted.
Emotionally he was very unstable personality. He could not concentrate on one thing. He was skeptical of recovery. He had strong feeling of helplessness. He had a tendency to blame others. After taking down the details Dr Shah felt that counselling is an important part in his case.
He was prescribed his constitutional medicine along with our research based medicines. A proper counselling session was given to him.
At 2 months follow up he reported with 10% improvement and was very impatient and wanted to stop the treatment and take some other kind of treatment. He was explained the disease process and harms of changing the treatment frequently. Next batch of medicines were given to him.
Patient visited in between before finishing the medicines stating that there is no much improvement. Again a counselling session was given to him and he was advised to continue the same medicines.
At 4 months follow up he reported with 30% improvement but he was not very happy. He was asked weather he required any antibiotics in last 3 months of treatment, the answer was no and then he realised that medicines are working for him. We got his faith and we expected faster recovery now.
At 6 months follow up he reported with 60 to 70% improvement overall. He had taken some cold drinks few days back, to his surprise even after that the intensity of complaints were not severe. He became hopeful of complete recovery.
At 8 months follow up he reported with 90% improvement. He was prescribed 2 months medicines to avoid relapse.
This case was a learning experience for all associate doctors as how important is the role of counselling in such cases which was promptly given by Dr Shah.
