A case of 61 years old, female patient with TSH level 16.63..

A 61 years old, female patient Mrs. K. D. S (Patient Identification Number 2600), visited our centre with the complaints of hoarseness of voice for last 6 months. She felt very dull and lethargic. There was hair fall for the past few months. She had also gained some 6 – 8 kg. weight in the past 3 months. She also complained of constipation with unsatisfactory stools.

She was advised to undergo a Thyroid test.

She was detected as an Under-active Thyroid with TSH level 16.63.

Her diet was average with aversion to salt and her thirst was average.

She was physically a flabby person. She had attained her menopause at the age of 50 years.

Her family consisted of husband and two sons. She was a saree seller by profession and her husband was an alcoholic and could not find a stable job. Her elder son was commerce graduate and working. Her younger son was still studying.

She was born and brought up in a small village and was married at an early age. Her husband did some small time jobs in the initial years of their marriage. After the delivery of her second son, he left job and became a drunkard. She started working as a saree seller in a shop, but had to leave the job because of her husband’s nature.

She had worked hard to bring up her children, without her husband’s support. She has made her own identity as a very good saree seller.

Now she has become indifferent towards her husband. She has worked hard and now her elder son shares the responsibility. She is a responsible person. Her nature is reserved.

Her case was taken in detail and studied by Dr. Shah. She was prescribed Sepia 200 C and research based medicines by him.

At her first follow up, the hoarseness of voice was better by 40%. Her complaints of hair fall and constipation had shown remarkable improvement.

She was advised to do a Thyroid test before her next visit.

At the second follow – up, within 4 months of the treatment her symptoms were better by 90% and her blood test reports showed remarkable improvement.

Her Thyroid report, TSH was 6, which was 16 just four months ago. It was just beyond the normal values. With 4 months of regular medication under Dr. Shah she saw good improvement in thyroid functioning. We expect a very good recovery in her thyroid, with further treatment. She was never prescribed eltroxin. She could note improvement in her sleep. Her dullness and lethargy were considerably better. She felt fresh.

Dr Shah had given her the option to start eltroxin, since we were not sure if Homeopathy will work,as she was around 60 years old and the TSH was also considerably high.

But her faith was unshakeable. “Dr Shah is our Doctor” we know him since the last 20 years. All our family members are treated by him.” She was ascertaining this fact to the attending assistant physician.
