Case-2: Thirty eight years old male gets relief from sever neck pain
Mr. S. J. B, 38 years old visited our clinic on 15th April, 2012. His patient identification number is 18870. He had complaints of severe neck pain and right sided numbness since a month. There was pulling sensation in the right hand. He was using a cervical collar to get some relief. His reports of X ray and MRI had concluded mild cervical bulge. This was probably triggered due to continuous working on the laptop. He had taken pain killers which temporarily relieved him.
His appetite was average with no specific liking or disliking. He was sensitive to warm temperature. His stools were unsatisfactory.
He was working in the sales and marketing department in an IT company. His wife was a home maker. He had 2 daughters; 1 month and 5.5 years old. He was staying in a nuclear family.
He had been playing badminton and table tennis at a professional level. He had been working in a different company initially, but due to recession he lost his job. But fortunately he found another job immediately and he was presently working in that company.
He had suffered from dengue in 2004. He also had a ganglion in the right wrist which was treated with allopathic medicine intermittently.
His mother was suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and under active thyroid. His sister had cervical spondylitis and other sister had eczema.
His case was studied in detail by Dr. Shah and he was prescribed few research based medicines.
At 1st follow up on 12th May he reported considerable improvement in his neck pain. The tingling and numbness has also reduced significantly. He had started with physiotherapy since last 10 days.
At 2nd follow up on 30th July he was relieved by 60%. He had stopped the physiotherapy. The tingling and numbness had also reduced by 60%. His case was reviewed and medicines were upgraded by Dr. Shah.
At the 3rd follow up on 11th September he reported with 75% relief in his cervical pain. There was mild tingling and numbness occasionally.
At the 4th follow up on 28th November he reported with further improvement. The tingling and numbness were almost nil.
He was happy to report further improvement in his cervical pain. Occasionally he would get pain on exertion.
He has been advised to continue the medicines for few months to minimize the chances of relapse.
