Parents of an 8 yr old girl are overwhelmed with happiness and feel assured at their decision to opt for homeopathy for treating their daughter's lichen planus.

An 8 yr old girl (Pin L-6175) was brought by her parents to the clinic with eruptions on the hands and legs with itching. These eruptions were present for a few months. The itching would increase in the evening. Dr Shah examined the little girl and the skin condition was diagnosed to be lichen planus. She was using the Flutivate ointment for lichen planus. The lichen planus would be subsided when she would apply the ointment. If it was not applied for one or two days the eruptions would flare-up.

Dr Shah advised to gradually reduce and stop the ointment, as it was a corticosteroid and it does not treat the lichen planus.

The lesions were active and were spreading on the forearms. They would leave dark-colored marks.

She had periodic headaches, which would come up every week for the past 2 years.
A headache would increase on going out in the sun and be better by sleep.

For one year she had a recurrent cold and cough, nose block and would breathe through the mouth. On investigations, it was found that she had enlarged adenoids.

Her appetite was average with a craving for spicy food, cheese, and pizzas.

Her thirst, perspiration, urine and bowel movements were normal. She had a good appetite and sound sleep.

She was good in studies, was very sensible and understanding of nature. She was short-tempered and did not like to be corrected, would get angry.

She had an interest in extracurricular activities and painting. There was fear of darkness. She had a habit of nail-biting, especially when she was engrossed in something like watching tv, etc.

There was a history of nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) till the age of 6.5 yrs. She was operated for an atrial septal defect at the age of 5.

There was a family history of hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes, and migraine.

Based on this history Dr Shah prescribed her a constitutional remedy and research medicines for lichen planus. In the 8 weeks, the itching reduced and the eruptions subsided to a certain extent. Her headaches were less. The pain was 90% better.

In the subsequent 6 weeks, the lichen planus was substantially better. The eruptions which were raised above the skin earlier had gone flat. The itching was occasional. There were no complaints of headaches. The respiratory complaints of recurrent cold and cough, nose-block, breathing through mouth reduced considerably.

In 6 months of treatment, the lichen planus showed remarkable improvement. Within a year the lichen planus was 75% better. The eruptions had disappeared and the marks were fading.

Her parents continued the treatment further. There were no complaints of lichen planus. The marks faded to a good extent, wherein her skin color came to normal.

Her parents were overwhelmed with happiness and felt assured that their decision to opt for homeopathy for the treatment of lichen planus was correct.
