Homeopathy Boosted Immunity & Promoted 95% Recovery From Colitis & Allergic Rhinitis
A 36-year-old male patient, Mr. A.G.W. (PIN: 37289) visited Life Force clinic in Chembur, Mumbai on 2nd July 2018 with the complaints of intermittent diarrhea. He was passing stools thrice a day. The patient was suffering from these complaints for 5 years and was experiencing an episodic attack of colitis thrice a month. And, his every episode would last for 7 days continuously. The problem was almost continuous with repeated and recurrent bouts of loose stools, which are offensive brown, mucoid with undigested food particles, and traces of blood. He also complained of cramps in the abdomen. He also complained of anal discomfort and rectal pain with cramps in the lower abdomen. He was presently consuming Enterogermina oral suspension 5 ml once a day daily along with Rantac one tablet daily for a month. He had a history of fissure-in-ano at 6’o clock position and had undergone a surgical procedure for the same.
Many investigations were done related to his GIT system like Video colonoscopy, which detected hemorrhoids and descending colon erosions. He was diagnosed with Focal Active Colitis and Antral Gastritis. Video colonoscopy revealed antral gastritis on 7th May 2019. Also, he complained of acid reflux and acidity with abdominal bloating. He was suffering from acidity complaint for 1.5 years and was experiencing its one episode daily in every 2-3 hours. His complaints were relieved by taking ENO and Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor which decreases the amount of acid in the stomach daily. He had started with Tablet Rantac (contains Ranitidine which belongs to the class of H2 Blockers) from a month daily to get a solution to his problems.
He had a history of chronic alcoholism for 12 years, and he used to consume beer as a beverage. Along with that, he had a history of the habit of smoking 7-8 cigarettes for 12 years. To find a solution to all his discomfort, he had stopped smoking and alcohol from the last 2 months, but, still, the problem was persistent in spite of correcting his habits.
As his colon had affected his body’s capacity to absorb nutrients, it deteriorated his health leading to poor immunity which resulted in a low Hemoglobin count and low vitamin levels. Also, his other body systems were affected due to the poor immune system. He was also suffering from Allergic Rhinitis for 1.5 years, and the frequency of its episode was once in 15 days that would last for 2-3 hours along with sneezing, lachrymation, red eye, runny nose, and nose block. As per conventional treatment, he was prescribed Allegra M (An Antihistaminic with a combination of Montelukast 10 mg and fexofenadine 120 mg) once a day, when he suffered from allergic rhinitis.
Physical Generals:
The patient was a well-built man. He had an average appetite, and he loved eating spicy, non-vegetarian food. He had cravings for sweet food. He had to put a stop to all his habits of alcoholism and smoking from 2 months but was still suffering from the ailment continuously as his immunity had decreased. Thermally, he was a chilly patient.
The patient wanted to join defense like his father but couldn’t do so. He was rebellious and anxious about his financial situation, which leads to sleeplessness. Also, he had work-related stress. His sleep was disturbed due to anxiety and tension about his work.
He is working with Edelweiss as Vice President, and his father was 65-year-old retired defense personnel. He was staying with his mother and father. His two sisters were married. He was very much contented with his life. It was difficult for him to commit to a relationship, as he had low attachments.
After we noted his case history at Life Force, he finally started treatment from the Life Force clinic. Dr. Shah studied his case in detail and prescribed a combination of Phosphorus, Argentum nitricum, Gelsemium, Arsenicum album in 30c potency as per the homeopathic mode of treatment.
He started taking treatment since 1st July 2018 and has seen drastic improvement as far as his episodic attacks of colitis and allergic rhinitis are concerned. The duration severity and frequency of the episodic attacks of colitis reduced.
When he first visited in August 2018 for his first follow-up, he had experienced a 50%-60% improvement in his relief in colitis concerning intermittent diarrhea and rectal bleeding with pain. The frequency of his stools had reduced to twice a day from thrice a day along with 60%-70 % improvement relief in anal discomfort. Also, his relief in the complaints of Antral gastritis improved by 50% with reduced bloating and acid reflux. His complaints of allergic rhinitis concerning to nose block and sneezing with lacrimation and runny nose showed drastic improvement in terms of relief by 50%, as his immunity levels were improving.
After following homeopathic treatment for 6 months, the patient experienced a 70%-80% improvement in December 2018. He renewed his treatment course again with Life Force clinic on 2nd July 2019. His dependency on allopathic treatment had reduced to such an extent that he was no longer needed to take ENO or Tab Omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor which decreases the amount of acid in the stomach daily). As far as his allergic rhinitis is concerned, he showed a 60%-70% improvement in relief in it in October 2018, and, by December 2018, his health was improved by 80%.
The patient’s immunity levels improved immensely in spite of traveling to Europe in June 2019 in the cold weather. The patient reported up to 90% improvement then.
When he came for follow-up in December 2019, there was an improvement of about 95% in his overall health. He was not on any antacids for Antral Gastritis. Also, he was not on any conventional treatment for allergic rhinitis. He informed us that he hasn’t taken Allegra from 5 months, and there was no episode of Allergic rhinitis affecting him from June 2019 when he visited Europe. Now, he no more needed to take Allegra at all. His dependency on antihistaminics was nil, and he was only on homeopathy medicine for allergic rhinitis. He had also put a big stop to Omeprazole, Eno, & Rantac. In his recent follow-up in December 2019, the patient showed almost complete improvement in his recovery and relief. He didn’t want to go through Endoscopy to see the improvement pathologically and histologically to avoid pain and apprehensiveness of going through diagnostic procedures since he had experienced a 95% improvement in relief.
We took utmost care of the same and saved the patient from the side-effects of the conventional mode of treatment and also from detrimental complications of colitis which had negative effect on his immune system disrupting the absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from the food, thus protecting him from Allergic rhinitis and empowering him with a healthy gut.
Conclusion:
This case illustrates that homeopathy is highly effective in treating colitis & allergic rhinitis remarkably and safely without any side-effects.
