Mouth Ulcers Treatment with Homeopathic Medicine

Ulcers in Mouth Recurring ulcers in the mouth are a common problem for many. Small or large, one or several at a time, short-lasting or lasting for a few days, painful or not painful, could be some of the features of this condition. Medically, this condition is also called Aphthous stomatitis.

Causes of Oral ulcers

The most common causes of recurring ulcers in the mouth can be summarized as under:

  • Deficiency: Vitamin B12, folic acid, and iron deficiency. This is the most common cause of ulcers in the mouth especially found among vegetarians. Also, iron deficiency in women due to healthy menses could be a common cause. The treatment has to be targeted by proper supplements.

  • Cancer: A non-healing ulcer in the mouth with swollen lymph nodes in the neck must be examined to rule out cancer.
  • Some unknown causes

Symptoms

As said above, ulcers in the mouth could be in any form, size, shape, number, and duration.

It is more often found above the age of 20 years, in both sexes. Children also may present with oral ulcers. Having ulcers once in a couple of years may not need much attention. However, if the ulcers keep recurring and if they take a long time to heal, it calls for evaluation and strategic treatment.

The symptoms can vary, but common signs and symptoms of mouth ulcers include:

1) Pain: Mouth ulcers are often associated with pain or discomfort. The pain level can range from mild to severe, depending on the size and location of the ulcer.

2) Round or Oval Sores: Mouth ulcers typically appear as round or oval sores with a white or yellowish-grey centre and a red border. The center may also appear as an open wound.

3) Redness and Inflammation: The area surrounding the ulcer may be red and inflamed.

4) Burning or Tingling Sensation: Some people may experience a burning or tingling sensation before the ulcer becomes visible.

5) Difficulty Eating or Drinking: Due to the pain, eating or drinking, especially acidic or spicy foods, may be uncomfortable.

6) Irritation from Oral Contact: The presence of a mouth ulcer can cause irritation when talking, chewing, or brushing teeth.

7) Swelling: In some cases, there may be mild swelling of the tissues around the ulcer.

8) Excessive Salivation: Mouth ulcers can sometimes be associated with increased salivation.

9) Fatigue and General Discomfort: Individuals with severe or recurrent mouth ulcers may experience general fatigue and discomfort.

4) Mercurius Solubilis: Indication for Mouth Ulcers: Mercurius Solubilis is commonly used for mouth ulcers with excessive salivation, offensive breath, and a metallic taste. The ulcers may be accompanied by swelling of the glands, and the person may feel worse at night.

5) Phosphorus: Indication for Mouth Ulcers: Phosphorus is indicated for mouth ulcers that bleed easily and are associated with a burning sensation. The person may crave cold drinks, and there may be a general weakness and exhaustion.

6) Arsenicum Album: Indication for Mouth Ulcers: Arsenicum Album is used for mouth ulcers with a burning pain that is relieved by warmth. The ulcers may be accompanied by restlessness, anxiety, and a desire for small sips of water.

7) Carbo Animalis: Indication for Mouth Ulcers: Carbo Animalis is considered for chronic and recurring mouth ulcers. The ulcers may be painful, and there can be a tendency for slow healing. It is often used when there is a general feeling of coldness and weakness.

8) Kali Chloratum: Indication for Mouth Ulcers: Kali Chloratum is used for white, greyish, or fibrinous deposits on the mucous membranes, including the mouth. It is indicated for mouth ulcers with a tendency to form a greyish membrane. It's important to reiterate that these descriptions are general and may not be suitable for everyone.
