A twenty three year old software engineer working in a multinational company with acute symptoms of Atopic dermatitis on face and hands.

A twenty three year old software engineer Miss T.B (Patient Ref No: 8395), working for a multinational company in Mumbai, presented with complaints of reddish lesions on her face and hands since two weeks. She had severe itching, which was aggravated by sun and any draft of air. She had presented with dry skin, without any oozing. The scaling on her hands and forehead looked as if burnt. All her ailments increased after waxing her hands.

Along with this Atopic Dermatitis, she also complained of hairfall. There had been decrease in the volume of hair in the frontal region since the age of twelve. Her hairfall aggravated by washing and due to any change in place.

Her appetite was average . She was very fond of sweets and chocolates. There was profuse perspiration on the nose, axillae and soles. She could not tolerate cold in general. Her menses were scanty, which lasted for a day and a half to two days. She was staying with her friends (due to her job in Mumbai) and was away from her family since a year.

She was a short-tempered person. She used to argue particularly with her family members. She was the only child of her parents. She did not like solitude, was very talkative and used to trust people very easily. At the same time, she was very social and used to make friends easily. She feared darkness. Her concentration levels were poor. She was an average student, although she was very good at maths.

She had suffered from Hepatitis A in childhood. Her mother suffered from some skin problem. Apart from this, there was no other major illness in the family.

After studying her detailed case history, she was prescribed a constitutional homoeopathic remedy for the Dermatitis. Initially the eruptions and scaling on her hands had increased slightly but after continuation of the treatment, her complaints on hands and face reduced by about 90%. The associated complaints of itching, dryness and redness had reduced to a large extent. After a year of homeopathic treatment, her complaints of hair fall had reduced as well.
