A thirteen-year-old boy with complaints of Atopic Dermatitis due to food allergies associated with Allergic Rhinitis.
A thirteen-year-old boy H.B (Patient Ref No L-7850) reported to the clinic with complaints of Atopic Dermatitis on his face, cubital Fossa (front side of elbow joint), neck and elbows since childhood. However, his complaints had aggravated since six months.There was intense itching. There had not been complete remission of his complaints anytime. Dermatitis aggravated by the intake of foods (Chana dal, dry fruits and groundnuts) and particularly at night. He had been on homeopathic treatment since four years. He used to occasionally suffer from cramps in the calf muscles.
Along with Atopic dermatitis, he had been suffering from allergic rhinitis. There was persistent sneezing, which used to get worse in the morning.
He had an average appetite. There was marked aversion for fruits. He could not tolerate heat in general.
He used to stay with his parents, sister and grandmother. He was very short tempered, used to get angry quite often when his demands were not fulfilled. When angry, would not eat food and would cry a lot. By nature, he was very irritable. He was average in his studies. There were frequent fights with his sister but at the same time he was very concerned about her.
There was no history of any major illness in the past. His paternal grandfather was a diabetic and had asthma. Apart from this, there was no major illness in the family. On examination, adenoids (growth behind the nose) were observed.
After a month of follow-up, there was improvement in the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. The eruptions of Atopic dermatitis, on his face, neck and forearm were relieved by about 10%. His symptomatology of itching and scaling were relieved to a large extent. After 4 months of constitutional homeopathic treatment, eruptions on the face, arms and back showed significant improvement by 70%. His cramps in the calf muscles were also relieved.
