24 years old Merchant Navy officer was happy to find significant improvement for his Vitiligo.
Mr. P. M. (Patient Identification Number- 16667) visited our clinic on 8th August 2011 for his Vitiligo spots. There was a single spot present for more than 10 years on the right ankle.
He had been applying steroid-based cream for a long time. He had also taken some UV Rays therapy. Since the last 4 – 5 months it had started to spread rapidly with new spots emerging on the elbows, knees, waist, legs and left ankle. He attributed the sudden increase to excessive intake of non-vegetarian food which he had been consuming due to his duty on the ship. He had a positive hereditary background as his paternal grandfather was suffering from extensive Vitiligo.
He also suffered from frequent colds since childhood.
His appetite was reduced with liking for sweet, spicy, chicken and meat. He had a habit of smoking 5 – 6 cigarettes/day. He had profuse and generalized perspiration. He was intolerant of heat and warm temperature.
He belonged to Jaipur, where his parents were working in government medical health services. His brother was an MBA working in marketing.
He was a calm and reserved person.
His case was studied in detail by Dr. Shah and was prescribed a research-based molecule.
After 2 months (5.11.11) – he had shown considerable improvement in his vitiligo. The spot on the left elbow had completely recovered. The spots on the knee were better by 30%. The spot on the ankle and waist did not show any change. His frequent cold was better.
After 4 months (2.12.11) – he could not find much improvement. There was a new spot on his neck. The old spots were stable in size. His prescription was upgraded by Dr. Shah after reviewing the case details.
After 6 months (1.2.12) – he was happy to report that his new spot on the neck had completely disappeared. His spots on the waist and the thigh too had re-pigmented completely. The spot on the ankle had reduced in size.
After 8 months (9.4.12) – the spots on the knee had recovered by 75%. The spots on the elbow had re-pigmented completely. His frequent cold was also better.
He is continuing the treatment to attain complete recovery of all the spots. He is happy with the outcome of 8 months of treatment.
