A 19 year old girl came to Life Force with complaints of acne, hair fall, letharginess and weight..
A 19 years old female patient, Miss R. B. P (PIN NO- 8537), visited our centre with the complaints of acne since last 5 years. She had 3 - 4 eruptions at a time on the face, back and shoulders. The acne would remain for 10 – 15 days and would leave scar on healing. They were pustular, painful and itchy. They would increase after menses. She had taken some ayurvedic treatment in the past, but there was no improvement.
She had the complaints of hair fall for the last 1 year, which had increased since past 1 month. There was 80 -100 strands falling per day and thinning of hairs. Her hair fall had increased as she was stressed out during her exams.
She used to feel lethargic while getting up in the morning. She had gained a few kilo weight in the past 3 months.
She had the tendency for hyperpigmentation post injury or acne. She had one keloid on her chest, which indicated the tendency for scar formation.
She had an average appetite with craving for sweets especially milk sweets, but she had aversion to plain milk. She was difficult to sweat and would usually perspire on palms and soles. She was thermally a chilly patient. She had the habit of nail biting. Her skin was oily.
She had regular menses with premenstrual complaints of oral apthae and swelling on face. Her acne would increase after menses.
They were two sisters living with parents. Her mother was a home maker and her father was a Chartered Accountant, having his own practice. Her sister and herself were studying Chartered Accountancy.
She had a history of Pneumonia in childhood. She had complaints of constipation at the age of 3 – 4 years, due to fine wheat flour.
She had been operated for keloid at the age of 12 years.
In her family, her father was a Hypertensive and maternal grandfather was a Diabetic.
She was calm, mild and adjusting in nature. Her elder sister was her closest friend and dominating by nature. She would listen to everybody’s advise but would follow what she felt right. She had a ‘ good girl ‘ image in her family. She had marked fear of butterflies.
After studying her case in detail, Dr. Rajesh Shah advised her to get her Thyroid test done.
Following were her reports : T3 – 2.60 : T4 – 0.76 : TSH – 13.23.
She was prescribed Silicea 200 C and some research based medicines by Dr. Shah.
She was suggested to start Thyroid supplements, after 6 weeks if there were no improvements with our medications.
Within 6 weeks , in her first follow - up there was remarkable improvement in her hair fall and acne complaints. Her dullness and lethargy were slightly better.
In the next few follow ups, her dullness and lethargy were completely cured with mild persistence of acne and hair fall.
She was advised to repeat her Thyroid test after 6 months of starting the treatment.
These were her following reports : T3 – 2.80 : T4 – 0.70 : TSH : 6.39.
In the next follow up Dated 22 nd April 2011 the TSH level was 3.65.
She has been regularly checking her Thyroid levels at an interval of 6 months and they are within normal limits.
