A 1 yr 6 mths old baby, S. P. (Patient Ref. No. L-5771) was brought to the clinic by her parents for complaints of recurrent colds.
She had colds since past 6 months. There was runny nose with sneezing. Quite often there used to be nose blocks as well. These episodes were frequent once in 15 days and would last for around 5 days. She was on antibiotics and expectorant cough syrup, with little relief of her complains.
Her appetite had reduced drastically since these colds. The mother complained that she was not putting on weight sine a few months.
She had marked craving for fried foods.
Her sweat was less. Occasionally she would sweat on the neck.
She needed fan every time.
Her bowel and bladder functions were normal.
She had sound sleep.
Her mother reported that generally, she was very active and playful.
Often, she would get irritable and was prone to mood swings. She would get obstinate at times
and would demand for different types of food. Her grasping was good, and would try to make and speak in complete sentences.
There was family history of respiratory disorders. Her father had allergic rhinitis and brother had bronchial asthma. Her grandmother had congestive cardiac failure.
Based on this history, she was given constitutional homeopathic medicines. In the first 4 weeks of treatment, she showed marked improvement in her appetite. The sneezing had subsided. The severity of her colds had reduced. They would now last only for 1 or 2 days.
When continued with the treatment further for 4 months, her colds became less frequent and the dependency on conventional medicines reduced.
In the subsequent months of treatment, she was observed to have gained weight. Her mother was happy.
She is continuing with the treatment, for improving her immunity further.
