Left sided excruciating neuralgia shows significant improvement with homeopathy.
Mrs. A.T. [ PIN Number L- 9504 ] aged 37 years, consulted Dr. Shah for her complaints of Trigeminal Neuralgia. She suffered from severe neuralgia which was specifically left sided.
She was suffering from the last 15 months. She had been on Tegretol 200 mg twice a day with good pain relief. But since last two months there was a sudden increase in the trigeminal neuralgia, there were fifteen to twenty attacks of neuralgia per day. Each episode lasted from 40-60 minutes. She had lightening like, intolerable, a shock type pain.
She had a sensation that the teeth and gums are contracting. Her upper teeth were very sensitive.
Her lips were swollen. Gradually even her face would become swollen and hot.
The pain was aggravated on eating, touch, touch of cold water or cold air. There was severe pain on brushing the teeth and washing face. She felt relieved with warm fomentation.
She also complained of acidity.
Her M.R.I Brain study was Normal.
Her case was studied in detail. She was a lean person, had a smiling face. She had a craving for sweets, she was sensitive to heat and summer, winter was comfortable for her.
She had profuse perspiration, especially on her face and scalp.
She was a home maker; her husband was an electronic engineer. She had two children.
She described herself as an anxious and worrisome person. She had become quite short tempered off late. She had anticipatory anxiety about every thing. But recently she had become very indifferent to day to day matters. She is very affectionate and sympathetic by nature. She feared darkness and thunder.
Dr. Shah studied her case details and prescribed Mag Phos 200 C in repeated doses.
In 6 weeks Mrs A.T. reported a general feeling of well being. The frequency of neuralgia attacks had reduced. There was 20% reduction in the pain. In 3 months, the intensity and frequency of neuralgia reduced by 50%. She could tolerate cold water and could eat without pain. After about six months of treatment, there was substantial relief in the trigeminal neuralgia.
The pain was mild as compared to earlier and would now occur occassionally. The dependancy on Tegretol was reduced. Mrs A.T was glad that she opted for homeopathy to treat her trigeminal neuralgia.
