Had severe pain and itching on the left upper eyelid initially when it started.

Mr. R. T. (Patient Ref No.L-7934), a 26 year old male patient reported with a Chalazion on left upper eyelid since 3 months. He had severe pain and itching on the left upper eyelid initially when the chalazion started. He was advised surgery. Being in a field where he had to work on computers throughout the day, it became difficult to work in the evenings due to severe pain and itching in the eyes. He also used to notice gray particles in front of the eyes. Pain and itching with blurring of vision would be better in the mornings, but with exertion of eyes throughout the day, the condition would worsen in the evenings. He was very anxious about the Chalazion as he did not want to go for surgery, for the same.

His appetite and thirst were normal. He was fond of spicy and salty food. There were no other health problems. His sleep was good and his bowel habits were normal. He had allergy to perfumes. He had epilepsy attacks till the age of 20. There were no other significant complaints.

He had undergone appendicectomy 10 years back. There was family history of father having hypertension, mother having diabetes, vitiligo and paternal grandfather having vitiligo.
Mr R.T. was caring, friendly, with cool temperament. He had a brooding tendency, though.
He loved listening to music. He was mainly stressed and anxious about chalazion as did not want to go for surgery. He was on Homeopathic medication for 2 months, but was not helped much.

He was prescribed Thuja 200 and Conium 200 for the chalazion and within 4 weeks the chalazion had softened and the pain had reduced. After another 3 weeks of medication, the chalazion reduced by 95% and patient was relieved of itching of eyes and blurring of vision.

This case illustrates that chalazion can be effectively treated with homeopathy and surgery can definitely be avoided.
