A 55-Year-Old Lady Got 90% Relief In Chronic Trigeminal Neuralgia With Homeopathy
Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) is comprised of two words that signify its meaning. The trigeminal nerve is one of the 12 cranial (head) nerves supplying the areas of the upper eyelid to the lower chin. And, neuralgia stands for pain. TN is a disorder of the trigeminal nerve which presents as facial pain and headache. The pain is characteristically severe, intense, sharp, episodic, periodical, excruciating, stabbing, and short-lasting.
Due to the damage to such delicate parts (nerve), the nerve fiber behaves like an electrical wire with open ends, thereby leading to electric shock-like pain induced by touch or jerk.
Most cases of TN have demyelination of the sensory nerve fibers of the Trigeminal Nerve, either in the nerve root or (rarely) the brain stem. The exposed nerve fibers often get compressed or irritated by blood vessels (pulsating arteries or veins) that lead to painful episodes of Trigeminal Neuralgia due to the misfiring of the nerve.
The exact cause of trigeminal neuralgia is not clearly understood, but there are certain factors that can trigger the onset of trigeminal neuralgia, such as demyelination, stress, compression, stress, trauma, and genetic tendency.
Symptomatically, the patient may experience lancinating, excruciating, shooting, and electric shock-like pains. Trigeminal Neuralgia pain may appear suddenly and may last for a fraction of a second or maybe for a few minutes. The pain is periodic. The pain turns worse by chewing, drinking, brushing, gargling, touching the face, talking, and due to the wind of air.
CASE STUDY:
A 55-year-old lady, Mrs. M.K.S. (PIN: 38977) visited the Life Force Homeopathy clinic and got registered on 30th December 2018. She was recommended blood investigations by which she was found to have an underactive thyroid, diabetes mellitus, and hypercholesterolemia. The patient was suffering from trigeminal neuralgia for 3 years, but the condition had been aggravated in the last 3-4 days. The pain due to TN would last for a few seconds, and she used to suffer from the pain 2-3 times a day in the last 3-4 days. The patient is experiencing pain over the right side of her face and jaws. She was suffering from stitching and electric shock-like pain. Also, she was experiencing tingling and numbness over her right jaw. Her complaints used to get aggravated due to the cold weather.
The patient was on Tab Tegrital 200 mg (Carbamazepine) 1-tab OD for the last 3-4 days and on Homeopathic treatment for 1.5 years, and she was better with that, but, all of a sudden, the pain had started bothering her.
Mentally, the patient was mild, gentle, expressive, and religious.
Based on all of these and after studying her case in detail, Dr. Shah Sir prescribed some research-based homeopathic medicine for 6 weeks to the patient on 6th January 2019.
Follow-Ups:
In the first follow-up, the patient has had one severe episode and aggravation in his complaints. So, Dr. Shah reviewed the case and feedback and prescribed homeopathic medicines for 6 weeks to the patient.
In the next follow-up in March 2019, the patient was feeling 25% better.
In the follow-up in April 2019, the patient was experiencing a 50% relief in her symptoms. She was given homeopathic medicines for the next 6 weeks.
In May 2019, her condition was stable i.e. as it is. She was prescribed homeopathic medicines for the next 6 weeks.
In June 2019, she had no pain at all. Only pulling sensation was there and relief in it was better by 75%. She was given medicines for 6 weeks.
The patient was stable and had stopped the treatment since August 2019. She restarted the homeopathic treatment after 1.5 months. The patient requested for quick delivery of medicines as she was experiencing severe pain. Now, she was also having lachrymation and aggravation in the complaints from speaking loudly and being in the AC air. She was given medicines for 6 weeks.
In November 2019, the patient was stable. Homeopathic medicines for 6 weeks were given to the patient.
In January 2020, trigeminal neuralgia had been suppressed by Tegretol BD as the patient was taking Tegretol BD for 1 month. Homeopathic medicines for 6 weeks were given to the patient.
In February 2020, the patient had 25% relief. The patient was taking Tegretol BD so trigeminal neuralgia was suppressed. Homeopathic medicines were given for 6 weeks to the patient.
In April 2020, the patient had 90% relief in her symptoms. The patient had stopped Tegretol from the last month. Homeopathic medicines were given for 6 weeks to the patient.
In June 2020, the patient experienced a relapse. The patient’s pain increased from 1 week after an acute cold. She started taking Tegretol BD for 1 week because of the pain. Homeopathic medicines were given for 6 weeks to the patient.
In September 2020, the patient had 90% relief. Homeopathic medicines were given for 6 weeks to the patient. She had stopped taking Tegretol BD within 15 days of the previous episode. No episode had bothered her in the last 2 months so she experienced no need to take the medicine.
Finally, recently in October 2020, the patient’s son gave the feedback and said that all is well. The patient had no episodes in the last 3 months and just wanted to continue the same medicines. As she had no episode in the last 2 months, she experienced no need to take the medicine. Homeopathic medicines were given for 6 weeks to the patient.

Conclusion:
This case illustrates the wonderful role of homeopathy in treating trigeminal neuralgia. She got 90% relief in the condition with our homeopathic medicines and is. The patient no more needs conventional medicines. This proves the effectiveness of homeopathy in treating trigeminal neuralgia incredibly and safely without any side-effects.
