Urticaria had started after taking large doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of acute disc prolapse.

Dr A.M.S., M.D, 44 year old eye surgeon from Egypt had chronic urticaria which was of 5 years duration. The urticaria had started after taking large doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of acute disc prolapse.

The lesions were not responding to any forms of anti-allergic drugs (antihistamines, mast cell stabilizers, anti-prostaglandins). Temporary relief was obtained only with oral or injectable steroids. The lesions were increased by eating fresh vegetables, fruits, peanuts and its derivatives, changes in weather, perfumes, flowers, shellfish, all anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics.

The patient is an ophthalmic doctor, having mild hypertension and past history of lumber disc operation. There was no significant family history of diseases.

The personality of the patient was quiet tense due to stress of work. Anger was generally expressed by silence. He would not vent out his anger but would suppress it within him.

Based on the above history the patient was prescribed homoeopathic medicines and within just 6 weeks he submitted his feedback which was as follows:

"I would like to inform you about progress of my urticarial lesion under homoeopathy treatment. Just after completing one and half month of treatment, I can tell you that the lesion and its recurrence have been reduced to about 50%. The most important benefit is that I completely stopped the use of systemic steroids, which is something great. Fortunately, the lesions disappear spontaneously without systemic steroids or antihistamines. I would like to thank you for this early achievement."
