A 39-years-old male, Mr. H.S. (PIN 29239) visited our Life Force Vashi branch for his atopic dermatitis treatment. He was suffering from atopic dermatitis from the last 5 years. He was suffering from the complaints, such as severe itching with exfoliation of skin, scaling, redness, and dryness of crotch area. He would suffer from 2-3 severe episodes of atopic dermatitis every year that would last for 2-3 months. He was using external corticosteroids for the same and that helped him temporarily.

His appetite was normal. He was fond of sweets and had aversion to meat.

His thirst was average. He used to experience profuse perspiration on his face. He was not comfortable with the hot weather. His bowel, urine, & sleep patterns were normal.

In his family, his father was suffering from ischemic heart disease and mother was diabetic. Besides this, there was no other major illness in his family. He had not suffered from any major illness in the past.

He was a researcher and teacher in a leading Business college in Mumbai. His wife was a researcher in IIT. He was having a 6 years old son.

Mr. H.S was a calm, quiet type of person and mentally quite stable such that he would handle any situation without taking any stress. His only worry was his skin complaints which were not getting better for a long period.

After a thorough case analysis, Dr. Shah prescribed his research-based medicines to him.

After 6 weeks of following the treatment and medicines, the patient reported that his skin complaints had increased. On inquiry, it was found that the patient had stopped his steroids after starting with the homeopathic medicines. The patient was explained about the rebound effect of the use of steroids. Also, the patient was well-explained that the worsening of his complaints occurred due to the stoppage of steroids. The necessary changes were made in his prescription and revised medicines were sent to him.

On 10th September 2016, the patient reported that he has observed an immense improvement in his relief from itching and exfoliation. His complaints were better by 70%. There were no new eruptions.

On 13th October 2016, he reported that his complaints were better by 80%. But, in the meanwhile, he again experienced exfoliation and itching but the intensity was not as severe as before and, within 3-4 days, it subsided.

On his next follow-up after five weeks on 17th November 2016, the patient reported that he hardly had any itching episodes in between the follow-ups. He was relieved of these complaints by 90%. Mild itching and dryness were managed by using moisturizer. There was no need to take any medicines other than homeopathic medicines.

With the further continuation of medicines on 27th January 2017, the patient reported that he was completely relieved of his atopic dermatitis. There was no itching, no scaling, and his skin had become much smoother than before.

Conclusion:

This case highlights that Atopic dermatitis can be treated at the root level and effectively with long-lasting positive results, rather than superficially suppressing the disease by the use of local creams or ointments.
