A Case Of Underactive Thyroid Treated Successfully With Homeopathy

A 20-year-old female, Ms. H. B (PIN 28088) visited Life Force clinic on 27th February 2016 with a complaint of vitiligo. Her thyroid was never checked. She was advised to check her thyroid levels. Her TSH levels were 26.40. On enquiring, it was found that she experienced a weight gain of 7-8 kgs in the last two and a half years. She was also experiencing hair fall with the thinning of hair. She was lethargic and was feeling sleepy the whole day. Her menses were regular and flow was also normal for five days. She did not consult an endocrinologist, as she believed that homeopathy was the best treatment to get rid of her hypothyroidism.

Physical Generals:

She had a mixed diet with an average appetite. She had craving for spicy, sour, and sweet food. She was sensitive to the hot weather. Her bowels and urination were normal. 

Self & Family Set -Up:

She was a student of first year of B.com. Her father was self-employed and mother was a homemaker. Her brother was studying in 9th std. 

Mind:

She was carefree, lively, and an extrovert personality. She was very good in her studies. She was a very duty conscious and conscientious person. Her social quotient was poor, after she was diagnosed with vitiligo. 

Past History:

There was no medical history of any major illness in her past. 

Family History:

There was a family history of hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. 

Prescription:

After reviewing the patient's case in detail, she was prescribed medicines for her hypothyroidism. She was advised some dietary corrections, as it would increase her immunity and prevent her from experiencing aggravation. She was also advised to check with her vitamin D, Vitamin B12, and serum calcium levels to rule out any possibility of any deficiency. 

Follow-Ups:

The patient visited the clinic for the first follow-up on 12th April 2016. There was an improvement in her energy levels. Her vitiligo had stopped spreading. She was advised a few dietary corrections this time. Further medicines were prescribed for 2 months. 

The next follow-up was given on 6th July 2016 by the patient. Her TSH levels were 2.75. There was a considerable reduction in her weight, and she was feeling quite energetic now. There were no symptoms of underactive thyroid on inquiry. Re-pigmentation was observed in her vitiligo patches. Dr. Shah prescribed medicines accordingly. 

Later, the patient gave her follow-up on 21st November 2016. TSH values were 2.22, which was within the normal limit. The patient was very happy with the treatment, as her thyroid levels were within the normal limit without the conventional mode of treatment.

The patient is still continuing the treatment for further recovery.

Conclusion:

This case highlights that early diagnosis, homeopathy, and the right mode of treatment can give you quick results and recovery from hypothyroidism.
