Case-5: I can enjoy spicy food again! Homeopathy brings complete relief to aphthous ulcers.
A young twenty-eight-year-old professional, Mr. B. S. (Patient Identification Number: 18808) visited Life Force Homeopathy on 7th April 2012 for the treatment of recurrent Aphthous ulcers.
He presented with severe chronic aphthous ulcers since six months and reported that he had suffered from malaria six months ago after which his complaints of mouth ulcers started. He had burning sensation on eating spicy food and his complaints increased by cold drinks. On examination, there were ulcers on his inner cheeks and gums, his throat was inflamed and excessive salivation was associated with ulcers. He had burning pain and discomfort while eating food. He could not concentrate on his work because of his complaints. He had taken ayurvedic treatment in the past for 3 months but that gave him only temporary relief and did not help in preventing relapses. He thus wanted to start homeopathic treatment; to get a permanent and long-lasting relief.
He occasionally suffered from acidity and gases which increased on skipping meals. He had to take antacids on and off for his complaints. He had also suffered from piles in the past.
He was a vegetarian by diet and had an average appetite. He occasionally consumed alcohol. His thirst, perspiration, bowel movements, urination and sleep were normal. He was sensitive to hot weather.
He was working as an assistant manager in a private firm in Mumbai. His parents resided in Lucknow. His father was retired and mother was a home-maker. His elder brother was married and settled in Lucknow. His younger brother was a software engineer and was working in Delhi. He was cool and calm by nature. He did not have any apparent stress and was residing in Mumbai since 5 years. He was disturbed due to his mouth ulcers. He had suffered from tuberculosis 10 years back. His mother suffered from hypertension.
Dr. Shah studied his case in detail and prescribed him research based medicine for chronic and recurrent aphthous ulcers. He was advised to check his serum vitamin B 12 level.
He called up after 6 weeks on 26th May 2012 and reported that his complaints of aphthous ulcer and acidity were considerably better. There was mild improvement in flatulence complaints. His serum vitamin B 12 level was normal. Next 6 weeks medicines were sent to him.
He visited Life Force on 2nd July 2012 and reported of 30% improvement. His intensity and duration of ulcers had reduced. He mentioned of indigestion complaints with unsatisfactory stools. Some changes were made in his prescription by Dr. Shah.
He then visited Life Force on 20th September 2012 and reported of overall 50-60% improvement in his aphthous ulcers complaints. The burning sensation in his mouth was further better. On examination, there were no ulcers and no and redness in the mouth. His motions were satisfactory. His acidity complaints had reduced but on eating spicy food; it still increased
He visited us on 9th November 2012 and he was happy to report 80% improvement in his complaints. His acidity and bowel movements were remarkably better. There was no burning in the mouth. He was able to tolerate spicy food and no discomfort on eating. His work efficiency had also improved. He had mild flatulence complaints for which he was given medicines for a month.
He later visited us after 1.5 years; on 29th June 2014 and reported that his aphthous ulcers were completely better. There had been no episode after the completion of treatment since 1.5 years. He had come with complaints of acidity, flatulence, constipation and piles. He wanted a long-lasting and effective treatment for his gastric complaints as well like his complaints of recurrent aphthous ulcers. His treatment was started under Dr. Shah.
This case highlights the efficacy of homeopathic medicines to bring complete relief in cases of aphthous ulcers. Not only the complaints get better, but the patient has long-term relief even in the absence of medicines.
