Case-12: Homeopathy effortlessly relieves the pain of Calcaneal Spur pain
Homeopathy effortlessly relieves the pain of Calcaneal Spur pain
Mrs. A. S., a fifty-nine-year-old housewife (Patient Identification Number: 23249) visited LifeForce on 1st August 2014. She had been suffering from pain in her left heel since last three months. An X-ray of the heel done recently showed a calcaneal spur (a projection of the heel bone). She had tried Short Wave Diathermy given by her physiotherapist, which had given relief for a few weeks, but since the last ten days, the pain had again increased.
Mrs. A. S. also complained of pain in her left knee since ten years. She would have stiffness in her left knee and could not squat or sit cross-legged. She also had varicosities of her leg veins since last five to six years.
Also a diabetic since 2008, she sometimes had episodes of giddiness, especially when she was stressed. Mrs. A. S. was on anti-diabetic medications in addition to vitamin B12 and D3 supplements.
She was a vegetarian with average thirst, appetite, and perspiration. She tended to be more intolerant of the cold. While she had no complaints about her urination or bowel movements, her sleep tended to be disturbed.
She stayed with a daughter who was unmarried and her retired husband. She also had a son who was a hardware engineer, was married and settled in the US.
Like Mrs. A.S., her father had also been a diabetic and had suffered from varicose veins and osteoarthritis. Her brother was also a diabetic.
She was a soft-spoken lady. Off late, since the last four to five years, she had begun to get angry easily. However, the anger would usually be short-lived. Earlier, she would feel very happy when guests would come home, but recently she had started getting disturbed due to the stress of having to work more. She did not like it when she was contradicted and was very particular about keeping things in their right place.
Dr Rajesh Shah studied the case in detail and prescribed Aranea Diadema 30c in addition to his research-based medicines for osteoarthritis and calcaneal spur pain.
One and a half months later, Mrs. A. S. visited the clinic on 19th September 2014. Her left heel pain had reduced, but she still had burning pain on some days. She said that she was definitely able to walk much better now. She had not had any episodes of giddiness in the last six weeks. Her knee and back pain still troubled her occasionally.
A month later, Mrs. A. S. reported on 29th October 2014 that her heel pain was now fifty percent better. She had noticed that there was a mild pain on the side of her left heel too. Her left knee pain was also better. Using a belt in addition to homeopathic medicines gave her relief in her back pain.
When Mrs. A. S. visited Dr Shah on 30th January 2015, three months later, her heel pain had reduced by seventy-five percent. It only troubled her when she first put her feet on the ground in the morning. Her knee and back pains occasionally troubled her when she over-exerted, but she was overall better. Her giddiness had not returned back at all.
Mrs. A. S. continues to visit LifeForce for other complaints. On her last visit on 6th April 2015, her heel pain was eighty-five percent better. Her back pain was fifty percent better. Her left knee pain had increased due to a fall on her knee, but later it had reduced by forty percent.
How soon can one expect relief with homeopathy? Mrs. A.S.’s case shows how the speed of recovery depends on a number of factors. The patient’s age, immunity, the extent of the disease, the number of years since when the disease has been going on, the treatment taken so far… these are some of the factors to be considered. As in Mrs. A.S.’s case, her heel pain showed quick relief since she had sought treatment in the early stages of the illness. Her back and knee pains took a little while since they were decade-long illnesses with degenerative changes.
