Case-1: Homeopathy helps Epidermolysis Bullosa

Homeopathy helps Epidermolysis Bullosa

Twelve years old girl from a town in Gujarat, was brought to Dr. Shah with the hope of seeking some treatment for her difficult skin disease. Her mother, Mrs. C. P. was being treated for Psoriasis by Dr. Shah. The daughter, Ms. T. N. P. was diagnosed with Epidermolysis Bullosa just three days after birth.

She was in distress due to continuously forming blisters on her arms, elbow, fingers, legs, feet, face, lips and oral mucosa. The blisters were itchy, scaling and burning on breaking. There were few post-healed light marks spots elsewhere on the body. The nails were also deformed. The formation of these blisters was a continuous process and may appear anywhere on the body. Any injury or trauma may trigger a blister in that area. A genetic chromosome study was done five years back which concluded it to be Epidermolysis Bullosa. She had stopped all the treatment since past six months. She would take antibiotic medicines as and when required in the past.

She visited Life Force on 3rd November 2011. Her patient identification number is 17404.

She was a vegetarian with good appetite. She liked eating chocolates. She was sensitive to warm temperature.

She was studying in fifth grade and had been staying in a hostel for past six months. They lived in a joint family with paternal grandparents and uncle, aunt together. Her father had catering and decoration business. Her mother was a homemaker. She had a younger brother studying in first grade.

Dr. Shah studied her case details and prescribed few research based medicines for two months. Dr. Shah very well explained to the parents all about the disease progression and possible treatment outcome.

Her father called for first follow up on 27th January 2012. She had shown around 20% improvement in blister formation. The itching was mildly less. She had fallen on her hip fifteen to twenty days back and developed a blood clot. She was being locally treated for this. She was sent next two months medicine by Dr. Shah.

His father called up for next medicines on 14th March 2012. The improvement had become stable on 20%. Also, the disease did not deteriorate further.

Epidermolysis Bullosa being a difficult disease condition, this improvement is considered good. More time is required to established efficacy of homeopathy for this disease. At Life Force, we have three cases so far (April 2014) of Epidermolysis Bullosa and would like to treat more.
