Months after World Health Organization (WHO) warned people suffering from conditions such as HIV, tuberculosis and malaria against relying on homeopathic treatments, a Mumbai-based homeopathic institution is planning to disprove ill-effects of the stream on critical illnesses.
Life Force, a homeopathic firm is conducting clinical studies to treat HIV through homeopathy under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines, "Currently, we are conducting clinical studies on HIV, as per ICMR guidelines. At present, we are in the process of documentation, following which, in three months' time, we aim to recruit patients for sampling. As the projects is in its nascent stage, we would be unable to provide further details, "said Dr. Rajesh Shah, MD, Life Force, who is spearheading the research.
The institution is also conducting studies on vitiligo, lichen planus ---both common skin diseases. "While we have treated over 2000 lichen planus cases, we have developed a molecule to treat vitiligo, adds Shah, who is a Limca world record holder for treating the maximum number of patients globally.
Life Force has created Internet programs for treatment of various diseases and has patients from over 160 countries availing of its services. According to Shah, Life Force, run by Homoeopathy India Pvt. Ltd. (HIPL) in India, was the first clinic to start an online homeopathy model for treating patients.
"Life Force is the world's first ISO 9001:2000 certified clinic with an attached research wing. Moreover, we started the first medical website in India in 1995 and have 25 dedicated websites on various chronic diseases to diagnose and treat patients in the country and worldwide. Online treatments are effective for homeopathy as most skin diseases and chronic diseases can be as effective through the online model as the physical treatment."
Shah, also the director of Homeopathy India Foundation, currently has about 30,000 patients worldwide and has recently launched two websites in Spanish and Hindi.
"Most people are not aware that diseases which need surgical correction can also be cured through homeopathy. In fact, there are diseases, in which homeopathy can avoid surgeries. For instance, ovarian cyst, tonsils, to name a few," Shah adds.
